CT Only: Apocrypha-3 CD-ROM

Is the file "The Arctic Environment" on the Apocrypha-3 CD-ROM in the same series as "Undersea", "Desert", and "Mountain" Environment books?

Has anyone purchased these Apocrypha disks? Have any problems or issues been identified yet with them, or are they pretty much sans glitches?

Is there any word/rumour that FFE may have another sale (other than the strange "443" offer)? It's been several years since the last one that I recollect.

Hmm, I was not aware that an "Arctic Environment" book had been done. I have the Desert, Mountain, and Underwater books. They have a few glitches, but nothing I would view as massive or major.

THis is its second appearance. About 15 years ago, Paul Sanders got permission from Marc and the Brothers Keith to print several of their unprinted manuscripts. Apoc 3 includes that whole product as PDF. The draft paul published was a little rough by Keith Brothers standards, but quite workable. Also there, a pirate book (Rogues in Space), which may have been originally intended as Book 9... and adventures. Paul's print was decent quality printing of low-quality originals.

If you have it, how would you rate it as representing the Arctic or cold-weather environment? I ask this based on your residence in Alaska.

I have it, but haven't looked at it except in a brief check for years.

A quick skim shows the usual Keith Brothers' Skill Bloat.

The thin ice table is reasonable.

The description of a snowmobile is bad...
Light Snowmobile: The Light Snowmobile is a
small, one-man snowmobile. The driver stands at the rear of
the vehicle, gripping the controls. The vehicle uses a centrally
mounted rear track and two ski runners forward for support and
drive. Two models are available, as 'shown below.

One doesn't stand on a snowmobile. On sits, leaned way forward, like a short motorcycle...

It has similar gaffs in a few other places. The protective gear modifiers to frostbite checks are not explained how to be used - it's obvious they subtract from the rolls to me, tho'...

Etc.

Not bad, but not as good as The Undersea Environment.
