SOC-9
so you roll or point buy or what have you and you get a set of numbers, between 3-18 (probably you wouldn't do as relatively high of set of numbers as DnD because you don't want everyone to be noble and educated and smart and fast and strong and wise and likeable and tough)
so for example you have something like
Str - 6
Dex - 12
Con - 9
Int - 10
Wis - 10
Cha - 18
Edu - 11
Soc - 5
than you pick race (Standard Human)
than roll for Tech Level (Very High, TL 15, +2 Edu, A Starport, LoPop Va)
than get 3 skills plus T/Computer (so T/Computer, T/Astrogation, T/Communications, T/Mechanical) (I don't get a choice at all) as well as K/Homeworld
than World Feats (these don't count against your Human or First level feats, right?) (Vac Suit and Zero-G/Low Grav)
(and I have the regular DnD books (3.5), it is just the prior history thing, and two new ability scores, that are thowing me)
than you pick human feat (natural talent: Telekinesis), height and weight
next you pick a first class(can only be a Scout of the service classes, so huzzah)
I start with 20 skills (4 in gather information, leader, liaison, driving, as well as 1 in each of my world ones) and armor prof light and weapon prof marksmen and Contact Specialist
I get 8 stamina (how much lifeblood?)
if I didn't take scout, would I be able to be a scout first level or not? (the rulebook is not clear here)
could I choose to delay and take university first?
anyways, I will take scout first, I get routine and survive (+4000xp)no bonus, than I apply age effects and level (to level 3)
I keep doing this until the max terms are up, only I can't continue in the class if I don't roll high enough
if I fail my roll to continue employment than I can take another prior history if one is open to me (as in I have taken a level in that class and fulfill the requirements), but if I can take no other employment, than I am booted out early (but as long as I don't roll a 20 I can always quit prior history)
I am a little bit confused by the order, it says that reenlistment is after applying expereince, but I thought that you could only (For services) take a class oher than your service type after you had mustered out, but you don't know if you muster out until after you take the class
it is confusing
I think that I understand mustering out
