Battleship - the Movie

Stuck on a 12 hr flight a couple of days ago, I'd watched 2001 A Space Odyssey, a Bollywood comedy and a Taiwanese love story, so I turned eventually to Battleship, expecting to hate it...

Now, I know enough about the military and the navy to know it probably bugged the hell out of a lot of people who know how the navy really works, but I liked it. It turned Hopper and a navy destroyer into a modern day Kirk and his Enterprise!

Anyway, the main thought that went through my mind near the end after you'd had a look at the aliens in their battle dress was, 'heh, these are a bunch of aslan raiders on some unalligned low tech world in the middle of nowhere.....'

I found the movie surprisingly entertaining, too. I don't know that I would buy the DVD or anything, but I didn't feel like I was watching a "Made for SyFy Channel" movie, either.

Steve Jablonsky did the soundtrack, and that is awesome. I don't like the Transformers movies, but I have all of his soundtracks for them.

My daughter was watching it and I enjoyed it! Totally crappy but enjoyable even if just to see the Mighty Mo club hauling!
