Black Globe Tactics

I'm not familiar with the layout of Pearl Harbour, but I'd imagine that, like most other harbours, it could be defended with 'torpedo nets' because...
Hence my point about having to have extremely good intel. They had to open the torpedo nets some times. The spies I stated were needed would have been assigned a number of tasks including getting that schedule figured out.

I think you could probably eat your dinner while an autopilot sailed your boat up the Thames toward the Port of London without a huge danger of collision.
Considering that every port in the world has certified harbor pilots, that even the most prestigious of commercial vessels needs to have them aboard just to avoid local hazards because no single bridge crew can be familiar with every port's hazards...I think you are not looking at the real picture.
And that adds in the fact that you can turn to avoid hazards, which you can not in the high vee class of attack I suggested.
Remember, I suggested the ship build a huge vector before going into jump. And that that vessel emerges fom jump space and globes up... So it can not change vector for the dual reasons that it is moving so fast and that it is inside a black globe.
So your following point:
There is no logical reason for an interceptor to fly for several minutes along a narrow canyon in order to hit a target the size of a Wamp Rat...
Is invalid for the very reason that, while you are not flying down a canyon, you are locked into a vector that is the same thing short the walls.

yes, I can come in from any direction but the idea behind the attack strategy I suggested(which, again, I did not find very likely to start with) makes use of the black globe to reduce the danger to the attacking ship while incrasing the odds of delivering significant damage.

To restate(as some points seem to be repeatedly missed)
If you can, you use extremely good intel to plot a single stright line passing near a high valued but well defended target. You build a huge amount of vee and then jump to the outer edge of the target system. You then globe up and drift at your existing high vee until the plot the egg heads figured out(from the intel) indicates you need to drop the globe, fire(or scan) and then reglobe. You hope everything is as the spies said so you actually achieve yor goals. You also hope the speed you have built keeps most of the defensive systems off you until you can jump out again to a system where you can dump vee. You also hope your limited exposure to enemy sensors does not allow them to establish a track that allows a deep meson site to crack you like an egg.

Marc, I haven't missed those points, I simply accept them as valid without need to comment on them.

The only point I had any quibble with was your assertion that there could be a significant risk of such a vector resulting in an accidental collision with another ship. I felt that such a collision was extremely unlikely under any circumstances I could realistically imagine.

In short, I felt your proposed tactic was actually more likely to be successful than you gave it credit for. :)

Then I misread you on the points I thought you missed...

Sorry

But I still believe that as you close on "Point Zero" you are increasing the odds something with get in your way. We'll have to agree to disagree on that point :D
