Born in Space?

... you can't simply say that kids are not going to be on space ships because they cost too much. Kids always costs a mint to raise, seemingly a crippling amount but families continue to do so.
I wish I could load up my place with a few tons of cargo and jump to the next system to sell it off. Most dirtside homes don’t have the chance to do anything but sit there and loose money. Every square foot of my place is lost to rent. At least you can make a living with a starship AND have a place to raise a baby.

Zombies-lol.

And of course there are kids in space.

A sci-fi rpg that doesn't have room for the Space Family Stone aint worth playing.

Mercs might adopt strays from time-to time...

I am almost afraid to post anything related to TNE here, but family-run merchant ships are one of the scenarios discussed in chargen (I think - it could be elsewhere in the rules).

Oh, good point. And don't worry about the TNE reference, I left my thumpin' stick at home.

I maintain that family-run ships are a viable option, for much the same reason mid-west families had lots of kids; free labor. Granted, there's a learning curve, but even there as I've already stated, kids can help a little.

Hell, I wasn't four years old before I was helping my dad and his friends at a Garage. I couldn't do much, but I k new which tools were which and I'd spend hours running about bringing them whatever they needed.
