BSG so far ...

I wonder if the DVD sales and merchandising will affect the renewal decission?
Considering it's more or less an in-house show I'd say there's a good chance of renewal, though Sci-Fi Channel's made weirder decisions before. Sales of dvds and other merchandise can be helpful, esp. in BSG's case (see below).

Farscape, for example, was split between at least three unconnected companies, while BSG is almost all if not all Sci-Fi Channel/NBC-Universal. Which is also likely why the mini-series aired on NBC before the series US premiere.

Ratings for the US premiere (link), significantly higher than the norm for the channel. Now I expect the numbers to drop some and stabalize but that's a good start.

2nd Season's already being mapped out (link). Granted that's just good SOP but it's a good sign all around, esp. that Sci-Fi Channel is bothering to report it.

Trek Today article comparing ratings between BSG and Enterprise (link). Farscape was expensive as well but with BSG there are fewer slices this time around. If nothing else it will at least run as long as the original show did. ^_^

And speaking of merchandising, I would love to get some minatures of the ships in this series.
I've heard there are some suitably useful ones already. I doubt you'll ever see official ones. Far more likely to see toys and possibly some official model kits. I'm sure there are garage kits already out.

Finally, Ron Moore has a blog here:

with some interesting answers. Worth a look.

Many thanks Casey

Or better yet, not tell them and make them watch it to find out.
Lets leave it. Someone has already posted more spoilers than I think is fair on this thread.

We want more BSG. Renew or die.

Oh I'd think it stands a fair chance at renewal since Sky One will be part financing it again since it's had fantastic ratings and reviews over here.

^ Yes, excellent news.

Sorry Ben, didn't think you'd mind the spoilers as you've seen the whole first season and I've only been able to read the SkyOne episode guides! ;) I'm just very curious as to what you on the east side of the pond think about the nature of Cylons.

It's an interesting twist.

Makes me wonder how much of the human-form Cylon is machine and how much is organic.

Is it nano scale machinery mimicking as biological, is it biotech with nano machines integrated, or is it full on biological?

Were there any part bilogical Cylons in the original. I have to confess that I haven't seen all of the original series :(

No. All Cylons shown were metalic body machines although they seemed to have Body styles, various functions and intelligence. :D
