Character Generation

Hey all!

I'm in the process of running a Classic Traveller game. However, we wanted to try the system where the skills are added to their attribute (ie knife skill:2 + dex:10 = knife skill:12). I was wondering if anyone knows where I can the list where it details what skill falls under which attribute? I had found it at one point and now I can't locate it anymore!

I'm aware that this isn't part of the 'Classic Traveller' system, but we wanted to see if it's easier to make the rolls from a ref's POV. Any ideas? Any advice on where I could MAYBE find it??

THANK YOU!!!!

The combat section has the bonuses for weapon type and attribute, as per your example, knife (or dagger) is under Strength. Melee weapons are usually Strength, guns and lasers usually Dexterity.

I'm thinking it was MegaTraveller that first codified all the skills by predominate stat/stats. As an outgrowth/collection of house rules to CT that should work for you if you can find it.

When we did CharGen, the players got 4 points to add to stats after they rolled the character. They could add those points anywhere they wanted them, so if you got a poor endurance or education and wanted to boost it, you have four points to use anywhere you want them. It made for very happy players, and allowed them to tailor a character so they had fun playing it.

Murph, did you do anything for skills? I like the CT setting but the enhanced chargen rules. I have seen all kinds of house rules on this site and I am always interested in learning.

EXAMPLE: I give someone with med skill 1 or higher small blades-0 I am certain somone on here can prove to the ninth decimal point why this is the craziest idea in the cosmos but at the time it seemed like a good idea...

I know, zombie Thread, but I've been away from the game for quite a while.

House rule I had, as a GM for Traveller (and DM for D&D) those who go adventuring are usually at least average in their characteristics, if not a little better in some.

You could roll your stats in one of 2 ways for Traveller.

1.) Use 2d6, re-roll a 1 on the first roll. Order the rolls to best advantage for the career you want to try and follow.

2.) Roll 3d6, use the best 2 and keep them in the order rolled. Re-roll of 1's on the first roll was allowed.
