surely, if your using a gas as a gain medium., its a gas laser, not a chemical laser?

on a more serious note, as a non CT player, could you elaborate how this laser differs form a standard laser, what its upsides are, and what downsides it has as well (on top of those any laser rifle has)?

Looking up Lasers, it fits the definition of a chemical laser better than gas, and chemical lasers do use hydrogen flouride in the weapon versions now:

As per CT rules, vs a normal laser it is better against armor, downsides is that it has to have the gas cartridges and it would be more expensive, even though I didn't put a price in.
