CIC for Book 2 ships

I'd put it at about 1-10%. (this matches the rates in several other games, including Starfire, where a ship is required to have space for at least one month's maintenance... maintenance is 10% of cost, and average cost is about 15 MGC per space, and a cargo hold of 1 space holds 10-100MGc, variable by edition...).

Of course, if you have Best of JTAS1 or the JTAS BFB vol1, the article on asteroid mining established person-weeks per ton-displacement for long term life support purchases.

I have just started a game where my players crew (as Officers) a 1000 tn converted liner. It is actually a mobile training facility for covert ops groups in the Spinward Marches. It's cover is a High Luxery Cruise for idle rich noblity's second sons and daughters. It sports 2 tripple missles and 2 tripple sandcasters. (Plus some neat popup turrets that don't show until someone takes the bait. I.E. 1 PAC turret, 2 dual plasma turrets, and 3 tripple laser turrets) It also has 3 - 22 ton fighters disguised as space racers. For a CIC, I added a 2nd bridge and computer. The next cruise it takes will be "slumming" in some of the rougher back waters where pirates have been operating in MTU. The plan is to bait the pirates into deciding to capture it and hold the junior nobles for ransome. They have no idea that these junior nobles are in training as agents. After the PCs complete their contract, they receive the ship as payment - minus the PAC and with a lisence for the Plasma guns. (Most of the PCs wear the SEH and this is a reward for such valor.)

By the way, what does the "CIC" acronym stand for? I know, in general terms, what a CIC system is, but I want the exact wording

raises hand slowly, all alone, </font>[/QUOTE]I keep track of everything that is added to a ship: from extra computer programs (backups and aux) to the items in the ships locker.

Piper,

Great link! I strongly encourage anyone who hasn't gone there to do and explore the entire site devoted to USCGS Thetis.

Sure, she's a paramilitary design, but her manning levels are more in line with Traveller then the Navy's. ForEx: three guys handle her engineroom on a regular basis while it took 15 -17 men to do the same aboard my ship. The photos of her EOC are very close to my mental picture of a Traveller merchies control room.

The pics of the berthing compartments are very good too.

Have fun,
Bill
