Conceptual USP: XSP (Extended Ship Profile)

No doubt about it: those weapons are not part of the OTU. They are intended to help Mongoose Traveller adapt to other (e.g. Star Trek) settings.

Then why call it HIGH GUARD.... its sad. Especially the inconsistency with repulsers!

How do you deal with warp and hyperdrive... cause you can't via traveller. H and S drives are still neither. Nor is there subspace communications. Traveller was based on what you had in H Beam Piper, Jerry Pournelle's Mote in God eye, and others view of space travel.. where there will be a lag in moving from one system to another and communication would move at the speed of transport... no faster. So you could hide and escape unlike today's world of global information.

Fire, Fusion & Steel for The New Era has suggested rules for subspace drives and communications (i.e. Star Trek).

*digs out T5 Big Black Monolith*

Hyperdrive seems to be as Leap drive in that it is transgalactic, and like Skip drive in that it takes hours instead of a week.

The TNE stuff started to turn Traveller into Space Opera? (Does anyone remember that game?). Or even more funny.... Space Infantry... or as I called it Hobbits in Space.

No, these were optional rules if you wanted a science fiction game other that Traveller and jump drives.

Jump drives as we all know an love (snerk :p) were in the book as well.

There were also rules suggestions for large wormhole drills (Stargate), stutterwarps (2300), and psionic drives.

I can't recall if that's all...

As of T5.09 - Jump, Hop, Skip, Leap, Bound, and Vault all take a week again. (See page 342 of T5.09)

Bah!

So, as far as communications are concerned, the C-limit is unbreakable.

Bah!

Jump limit. The jump limit is unbreakable.

Bah, again!

:p
