Concussion/Burst and plasmasplatter

When the rule-addition for FF&S1 came out it addad C:B to plasma/fusion weapons. However in the TNE rulebook we got plasmasplatter from those weapons. I believe we are to consider the plasmasplatter behave like shrapnel when it comes to chance of hiting anyone inside the dangerspace area.

My question is for how long does the plasma/fusion splatter burn a given target? I would believe that a splatter would easily burn off an unprotected arm or a leg within seconds. Any suggestions?

A lot depends upon how fast the plasma sheds heat; I always assumed splatter was effectively instant. (Now, if the clothing or armor was flammable, it might go up...)

Essentially, either the plasma just burns on through or dumps it's heat and vaporizes a chunk, which pushes the plasma back out... I don't know how realistic this is (other than being based upon physics principles ) in the details.

Well, by the rules on p.286, it looks like they burn until you remove the splatter, or the location hit becomes critically wounded (at that point any extra damage is pretty much moot).

I've always assumed that when talking about big weapons with concussion and burst radii, that the burst radius is for splatter, not conventional fragments.
