MT Only: Control Points calculations?

This is why I prefer software solutions for ship design. I can write, I can draw, but maths has ALWAYS been a curse.

Don't feel bad, this stuff is fiddly and complicated.

If it's any recourse, I have over 300 lines of code written just to create an FF&S Mass Driver.

Gun sights, ballistic computers, homopolar generators, then the actual gun itself. And this is not done yet. Still need more maths. For example, I need to still, among other things, total up the volume of the finished gun.

I have a further 200 lines so far in to building a laser.

And the presentation could certainly be clearer, not all of the information is in the tables or stand out formulas, there's note buried in the text. (Did you know that indirect site on Mortars are 1/2 prize/size of regular guns?)

I've gone down that route, but realized it ended up being just for me as that stuff never got applied in-game, or at least in my games. As much as I like crunch, my Traveller players are not gearheads nor huge Traveller gamers (we play a wide variety of games, alternating GMs and systems every few weeks).

For my players are not interested in the mechanics as much as the story, so I've been moving to more generalized things and glossing over the parts they don't really care about.

A far cry from my college days when there were 3 of us and we cared about those details! and made them work in games. I spent more time developing equipment and worlds than playing I think. Best part about Traveller: the solo aspect of being able to create with the amazing toolbox it provides!

I think there are MT ship design spreadsheets out there that would help. I did one up but, MT being MT, I'm not entirely sure I got everything right. I ended up doing a separate spreadsheet for ships and small craft. Every time I think it's done I spot another little thing.
