Converting from Striker to LBB.

So, I was going through a lot of my Classic Traveller stuff since it has been 30 years since I first received the LLB box. Looking through Striker I saw a lot of interesting things I would like to use in a game of Traveller that is not using the Striker books. Two things that sticks out are the armor mods and the range mods. How would you convert the rules in Striker about armor penetration, effective range, and all that to Classic Traveller mechanisms? I imagine someone has done this already, I just cannot see it so far.

Absolutely. As soon as Striker came out, people were using its combat system for regular Traveller games (Azhanti High Lightning, too).

There's even an article that explains one way to do it in JTAS.

I was using AHL/Striker rules with 2d6+Pen-AV= damage dice from about the day I got it; Damage mod of +1 was 2x indicated. It was quite brutal.

Use the ranges as is, and the To Hit gets the Dex DM for the weapon type from either Bk1 or Bk4, plus the skill level, on the to hit of 8+ out to effective, and 11+ out to extreme; I allowed double extreme on 14+ to hit.

Part of the reason I love MT combat rules is the striker derivation. I was able to use striker designs with only hits calculations in MT. (two armor table entries differ...)

Using straight AHL/Striker was TOO stat-independent for me, but it was deadly and fast...

Actually, what I want to do is take data FROM Striker and convert it BACK to the LBB rules. I've got people playing Traveller for the first time, and knowing these people I know that Striker is a little too wargame-like for their tastes. With the LBB rules I can easily explain things to them and not have them freak out with things like penetration depth and the like.

What are you trying to convert? The weapons? Look to Book 4 for that.

I also suggest getting Traveller's Aide #1: Personal Weapons of Charted Space. It's a d20/CT product that contains a lot of non-military weapons one would typically find while jumping from planet to planet. No PGMP's here. This is more shotguns and autopistols. Complete with CT stats.

Avenger also put out a book called Special Supplement 6 - Guns, Gear, and Gadgets. I'm not fond of it, but if you can find it cheap, get it. It's light on CT stats, but it does have a lot of weapons and gear one could use in a CT game.

That works for some of the aspects of the weapons. It allows one to convert most of the data from Striker to LBB, but there's something missing. How do you convert the penetration values to the DMs for each type of armor in LBB? The effective range is shown in scale cm, so I think that is convertible and I think I can figure range DMs.

The book suggestions are good to know and I will have to look for them when I have the spare cash.
