CT retro deluxe set.

You know what Classic Traveller needs IMHO? A slightly modernized version of The Traveller Book. This is how I'd do it if I were in Marc's shoes:

1) Take the TTB text and tables, as a document file (possibly from the OCR). Do a new layout at modern resolution rather than just an OCRed scan.

2) Fix all eratta.

3) Pick the best Traveller art FFE owns the rights to and put it in the book.

4) Put in the Starter Traveller ship combat rules as an optional version for people who don't like vector combat.

5) Add a good index in the end of the book.

6) For all default ships, add modern renders and vector deckplans.

7) put everything in a newly laid-out modern PDF, indexed, fully searchable, bookmarked.

8) Sell it as PDF and PoD.

9) Profit.

Also: Add in the professions from Supplement 4: Citizens of the Imperium, and (perhaps) add some of the weapons to the tables from Book 4: Mercenary.

Hell yeah, that's what CT needs! Include a few minor tweaks to things (like making a more formal connection between Air/Raft skill and Vehicle(Grav) and of course all the errata) for better consistency, but don't get carried away.

And you could add an "Advanced Player's Guide" book that had JTAS missiles, medical, the "other 6 careers", and maybe the vector math version of space combat. I'm sure there are other JTAS things that could be incorporated as well. It would also be cool to include things like "Rule 68A" or the BITS task system as options, though the TravAPG book should be strictly "extra" stuff.

I can totally go along with a 'slightly revised' version of TTB, especially incorporating errata. I wouldnt go overboard though. Citizens professions, an index, deckplans, maybe alien PCs and professions, would be cool. It has to remain completely compatible with existing Classic Traveller materials. Hardcover, reasonably-priced POD.

Nice speculation, but not happening right now. Can't go into details, but more CT activity isn't likely for a while.

I don't think any of us actually imagined that it would be likely. But it's fun to daydream, especially in light of "Liftoff".

No, not likely, but we can but dream.

Now that I've seen the quality of TTB print on demand I can't see why this would be anymore than an editing job and get someone to make the boxes.

Wonder how much a kickstarter for a CT retro deluxe set would bring in?

I have a print-out of most of TTB, from when I first got it (when I got the CT CD-ROM). I added the Citizens pages from Spinward Marches Campaign. Also the 3 pages of ships from The Traveller Adventure. The range band space combat system from Starter isn't on a page by itself unfortunately, but I add in that as well.
Took out the adventures (Shadows and Exit Visa), left in the Regina subsector and Library data. Added in the relevant pages of errata from Don's website.
Makes an almost-perfect book!
