Deck Plan

Colin

SOC-14 1K
Marquis
This is the deckplan for the passenger spaceplane. These deckplans will be made available in 30mm scale as well. 1 Square = 5 feet/1.5 meters.

Comments/Question?

Hi Colin. First off...keep 'em coming!

(I'm still not use to these graemlins...) Solid background and attention to detail are what will make this game. I think you're there.

One question; where is the fuel? Does this plane utilize internal tanks (I'm assuming so, to provide as optimal a streamline as can be had)? Or is the bulk/mass of the engines include fuel? The engine space looks a wee bit tight if you're putting fuel in that compartment. Is it working with crystaline hydrogen (or whatever 2320 is using for fuel...enriched water)? Thanks!

I want the spaceships book...

you are doing a spaceships book...

please say there will be a spaceships book...

Seriously for a mo, it looks pretty

The fuel tanks are internal. I just didn't bother to show them. Pretty much what isn't shown is taken up with fuel tanks and landing gear. I will look into adding these items, if it's not too much of a pain.

It is too much of a pain for somthing that won't show up in any deckplan action. This is an alternative view of the main deck. the lower deck has the cargo space, hydrogen fuel, landing gear and avionics.

I love the deck plans!

Would a scramjet powered thrust craft need so much oxygen, though? Or, is it not a scramjet.

It's not a scramjet. It's a hybrid thruster, air-breathing in the lower regimes, switiching to on-board oxidizer in space. It's an MHD/plasmadynamic rocket, and it admittedly pushes the borders of the possible.
But here's another picture.

I like the deckplans as well. I do suggest having 2 aisles though: 6 seats next together and being 5 away from the aisle is a bit much in an emergency.

Yeah, I thought about that, and maybe I'll take a look at doing it. I could actually extend the passenger deck under the cockpit, as that is more supported by the model.
Then again, if this thing has an emergency, having two aisles isn't going to help that much.

Not necessarily. Most passenger plane accidents occur on landing, takeoff, or taxiing, so there would be a chance that having the two aisles will help. Of course, at speed or altitude, no, two aisles aren't going to help much at all.

Sure .. but going to the head would suck if you were six seats from an aisle. Perhaps make the side aisles on the sides. But then again, how long are people expected to stay in this thing?

Not enough aisle space to go to the bathroom? Where's the leg room between seat rows? You've got the back of the first row of seats about 3" from the front of the seats behind them. You need to have about 18" between rows of seats so people can get to their seat. Otherwise it is very good deckplan.

That is the definition of an emergency.

Have you been on an airliner lately? 3" is a bit closer to reality nowadays, though some airlines are starting to go back to more legroom. (Some of the legroom out there is around 9" from the front of your seat to the back of the seat in front of you.

I agree with others, though - nice deckplan. :D

which is why people getting on liners should not only note where the emergency exits are but also plan an escape route. preferably by going through as many children and old people as possible. that way you can get out quickly and turn around and help others off.

Ok, here's another iteration. This is pretty close to final, at least for the main deck. Note that the cockpit is no longer on the main deck, and yes, I know that he cockpit lacks a grid.

Well, the ship itself is by Laurent Esmiol. A couple of the items in the floorplan (chairs, consoles, toilets) are from the Dundjinni user creation forum (yes, they are free for commercial use) and the rest is by me.

So, thanks.
