Donosev scout?

Maladominus

SOC-14 1K
Anyone know where I can obtain or purchase a CT supplement that has good quality deckplans of the Donosev scout?

did it ever appear in one of the old JTAS?

I'm trying to outfit my players with a suitable "scouting/exploration" vessel. And no. I have no intention of giving them some big fat armed-to-the-teeth warship. That's pointless IMTU. ;)

Just a decent sized adventure/exploration ship that's roomier than that cramped 100t Suleiman (which I never liked). And the Donosev 400-ton *sounds* just perfect.... from the description I read in my Supplement 9.

I'm looking for a "not-too-small-not-too-big" exploration vessel, one that the IISS would possibly use for a series of missions. Suitable for adventure party of 6-8 characters. Each one needs his/her own stateroom. And it must have at least Jump-3, because I intend to take my players jumping all over known space... eventually skimming the rimward borders of the Imperium, Aslan space, and Solomani Confederation and beyond. So yeah, it better have at least Jump3 or better to get anywhere.

I seem to recall an old issue of JTAS did indeed have some full colour Donosev plans by (IIRC) Paul Lesack. Don't remember which issue though, I'm afraid.

Sorry to rain on your parade, but the Donosev deckplans seems to only appear in 2 Traveller products: World Builders Handbook, and Grand Survey - both by Digest Group Products, and rare as hen's teeth.

See http://members.aol.com/gypsycomet/planlist.html on Gypsycomet's excellent site for details.

If you want to download the free Campaign Cartographer viewer then Hugh Foster's rendering of the Explorer Heavy Scout might suit your party:

Finally, and back on the subject of the Donosev, Rob Caswell's Illo of the Donosev's bridge is available on his website:

Good luck in your search,

While not CT, the one other place you can find deckplans of a Donosev is GURPS Traveller: First In. Of course, that's OOP, too.

The problem with GURPS is that they do everything totally different from CT format. The tech level is different. The system for ship notation and USP is different. And even the deckplan grid is different, as they use those HEX grids rather than the standard 1.5m SQUARE grids that CT/MT and T20 uses.

Honestly, I really wish I could easily buy any GURPS book and use their material for my CT campaign. But all the various differences (as I stated above) just makes it hard to integrate GURPS products easily into a CT-based campaign, unless I spend hours doing "stat conversions".

On the other hand.... I find GURPS books to be excellent source and background material! In fact, I recently bought the GURPS Humaniti book (which is still in publication), which is the best damned Traveller source material for detailing all the subraces of Humaniti (Syleans, Geonee, Azhanti, etc). And like all GURPS products, it is excellently written and has some nice illustrations too.

The World Builder's Handbook for MT, previously mentioned, is pretty readily available on the secondary market. In a worst case, I'm sure someone could scan the deckplans for you.

I have a scan of it (somewhere) if you can't get it anywhere else. WBH is worth picking up for more than just the deck plans. It has a nice catalog of IISS equipment and vehicles as well.
