Double skills for careers with no promotions

SOC-10
The Scout service gives two skills per term to characters due to the fact there are no promotions available to that career. I am curious if anyone has expanded this to the Other career or to careers from Citizens of the Imperium?

Yes, but I couple it with "no bonus skill for commission or promotion". Every career gets 2 skills/term, plus whatever automatic skill commission or promotion gets you for a specific rank. This way there is only ever a slight difference in skill totals between careers (i.e., those with rank and those without).

I always did.

Keep in mind though a lot of those careers have goodies in the mustering out that compensate for the less skills due to missed officer rolls or being non-ranked, particularly things like the noble yacht, the merchant or seeker ships and the COTI retirement bonus on the money table without Gambling.

The compensation for Scouts getting ships AND double skills is that they rarely make it to old age.

All that being said, I'm tending towards the double skill/unranked too, and definitely the roll die/choose skill from that roll on all eligible tables.

MT made it explicit that the careers without commission and promotion rolls get 2 skills per term.

Which is how I have done it for years too.
