Draft HG2/Supp5 Errata for comment

Another question about BG energy sinks. HG states that, aside from those inherent to JD, more capacitors may be installed, and each ton would be able to hold up to 36 EPs.

But, is there someplace where the price of those capacitors is mentioned? I have not been able to find it, and I don't believe they're free...

HG2 page 31 -- Additional capacitors may be purchased at MCr4.0 per ton.

Should the errata include the computer model types from HG 1st edition?

By this I mean HG1 allows for bis models up to a 9bis if desired, and HG2 still has the letters available in the USP to allow for it.

Now that is an idea. For the next draft :)

IIRC, the advantage of the bis models was counting as one higher for jump pourposes and a different CPU/Storage value (usually higher CPU at expanse of storage).

As CPU/storage is not used in HG, the only real advantage whould be its higher jump capability, but most military ships have computers larger than its jump needs (to have maximum advantage in combat). And anyway, for computers rated over 5 there's no jump advantage either.

So said, what advantage would bis computer have over the normal model for the same number (mostly on 6+ rated computers)?

Smaller and lower power use. 1 Ton makes a difference from time to time.

If you compare them with the next rated computer, you're right, but I meant what advantage would a 6bis computer have against a 6 one. The computer modifier, AFAIK would be the same, there's no jump capability is gained and no CPU/Storage is used in HG (as the errata says explicity).

TY for your answer. So it costs the same that a ton of whole JD...

BTW, I've tried to see again the errata to which you put a link in the first post this thread, and what I have is this message:

Is this an error or the link has been willfully invalidated?

Just had a look at the computer table, the bis model computer appears to be the same weight & EP, but costs double the standard model.

Using this assumption, after the 2bis computer, it becomes cheaper to buy a model 4 rather than a 3bis.

Model_Ton_MCr
1_____1___2
1bis___1___4
2_____2___9
2bis___2___18
3_____3___18
*3bis__3___36
4_____4___30, saves 4MCr on a 3bis & but uses 1 more EP
*4bis__4___60
5_____5___45, saves 15MCr on a 4bis & but uses 1 more EP
*5bis__5___90
6_____7___55, saves 35MCr on a 5bis & but uses 2 more EPs
...hmm, seems little point after 5bis
& 9bis computers would appear to be TL16

The benefits of 6bis, 7bis, and 8bis are not evident in CT. Their value is obvious in looking at T5, where there ARE J7, J8, and J9 drives...

More importantly, the formulaic approach returns them for those who DO use the Bk2/MGT computer programming rules with smaller Bk5 designs

Since the discusssion had left the errata, I pulled the draft down, and posted the full update to my website.

Just got back online after vacation, tried to go to the linked post, which DonM pulled. Placed on your website.

What is your website?

You'll find in DonM signature, the link to errata. He has put in in his updated CT errata.
