Errata?

Having reconstructed the Gateway Domain borders for my PDF maps, I can give a more complete list:

</font>
  • Crucis Margin, pages 137/142: border should be along 1601.</font>
  • Gateway, page 100: border should run down to upper right of 1614.</font>
  • Gateway, page 103: border should run along 1712-1714.</font>
  • Gateway, page 107: border should run along 1623, also 1628, also top of 1631.</font>
  • Ley, page 85: 1705 should be inside Imperium (to connect border on page 80), also 2717 (standalone Im world).</font>
  • Ley, page 89: should be no border below 1340 or lower-left of 1440.</font>

In Glimmerdrift Reaches, Asla (Glimmmerdrift Reaches 0827) and Ilium (Glimmerdrift Reaches 0726) should be included within the borders of the Federation of Heron, as they also have an Allegiance Code of FH.

I've added borders and a label for them on my PDF maps. I went with single-hex "satellite" borders rather than extending the main border into an even sillier shape, although I could enclose the two of them in a single three-hex border. I just liked the look of it, much like the two GTC systems in Crucis Margin.

Have you run your allygen script against the data, just to see what the borders would produce? You might end up finding some other exceptions that way.

Just a thought,
Flynn

The thought crossed my mind. At the moment, though, I think I've reached the point with sec2pdf that I need to print it out, go over it carefully with a yellow highlighter, sprinkle it with lighter fluid, strike a match, and rewrite from scratch. Like many quick hacks, it has grown haphazardly, and some of my early assumptions are breaking down as I move beyond the sector level.

For a simple example, the way I'm doing things now, I couldn't make a white-on-black domain map, because the background of one sector would draw over some of the data in adjacent sectors. Blech.

I'll probably take a break from this for a week or two, let the design settle down in my head, and then write a new version.

Have you posted the most recent version to your site, though? I'd like to take advantage of your labelling capacities, if possible.

Thanks,
Flynn
