I created a small robot/backpack that allows
the wearer to sprout a pair of retractable,
very flexible and strong arms with basic,
hand-like manipulators. It's inverted-Y shape
and the arms emerge near the waist.
It's NOT a weapon, though it can hold a shield or heavy sidearm, and can grasp and
crush with great strength.
Weighs about 20 lbs, costs about CR30,000
and takes commands via a microphone or (if
you use them neural interface). The backpack
has an "argus" sensor (and HUD) so the wearer
can grab things behind him.
Runs about 50 hrs on a battery with can be recharged.
Designed to be worn with a vacc suit and mainly for a shipboard crewman or engineer,
who may need an extra hand or two while performing their duties.
