The temperatures involved with liquid methane . . . brrrrrrrr! </font>[/QUOTE]I wrote up a Cthulu/Trav cross-over adventure once that was set on a automated refinery floating in a methane ocean; the refinery scooped hydrocarbon goop from the ocean bottom and broke it down for industrial lubricants and plastics.
The PC's were freelancers hired to find out what happened to the maintenance crew sent to the refinery the month before. Once on the refinery, a review of the maintenance logs showed the mechanics had found a problem with the pump-crawler on the ocean floor and had taken the platform's submersible to investigate. But the freelancers find the sub back in its cradle!?!
Then strange things start happening on the rig; damage their shuttle, rips in vacc suits, sabotaged life support equipment, food packs rendered inedible ... they are not alone!
DUM DUM DUUUUUMMMM! Enter "the goo monster from the dark, icy deep"! Ancient evil or new lifeform? It wasn't until it started budding that the PC's had a problem.
Cranked the air conditioning for this one, just to set the mood!

I think the harmless dust part would only come at a higher TL, though. And, they would probably be outlawed on most worlds - otherwise you would have all kinds of voyeur stuff going on....

Here's an idea for you RoS--and at least TL-D where holographic display comes in to its fore:
Holographic Memory Paper. Capable of holding several minutes worth of imagery that 'loops' and repeats itself when 'opend/ tapped/touched. Frequently used for Calendars, and family albumns, etc.

The clothing fabric is not loaded with nanobots, it is made of nanobots, themselves manufactured with near monolithic precision. Wear occurs, eventually, but it's a lot longer than ordinary fabrics.
I'd say it could go through the Repair Center at least a hundred times.
Normal "washing" isn't necessary, and won't happen unless the clothing is filthy dirty and you want it clean right away.
