FASA/Gamelords CD-Rom!

Flamewar Time ... Since it is from FFE, is it all CANNON for the OTU?
(I ordered mine today.)

Man, the Sky Raiders trilogy and Ordeal by Eshaar were some of the best adventures I ran. These were cinematic in story and scope.

My question is: how are the deckplans? Readable?

I just ordered mine (May 17th, 09) so I hope they come soon, not to worried as Mr. Miller is pretty good on sending you your stuff when it's ordered. Now we just need a few more CD's like the DGP stuff but I'm not holding my breath on that lol.

Gaaaaaaa!

I ordered it *yay!*

The bride called me today to let me know it arrived.... :)

HOWEVER....

Home is in WASHINGTON and I'm in TEXAS :nonono: until Monday....

Waaaaaaaah!

Waaaaaaaah!

While not exactly topical, I had a sudden mental image for use with a Traveller cartoon. Inspired by the comment above...

Captain to Steward "What do you mean the High Passenger said he left something at home after his wife radio'd it just came in? No, we're not turning this tub around just to please his High Passengerness. Either that, or push him out the air lock and tell him he has to hitch a ride back. And oh, Vac suits are optional."

Just got mine, as well. Geeking out big time....

I just returned from a long day in the Middle Ages(SCA) to find it arrived yesterday(not that it is 12:14am). Of course, I will be returning to the Middle Ages tomorrow so I will not be able to spin the disc today....
Sigh. I just look forward to something to read while I recover from the list field...

I do love the title.. "The Apocrypha-1" LOL

OK,
So I couldn't wait and opened up the deck plans for the King Richard...
All I can say is that I am glad I own a recent version of the adobe creative suite because these are gonna require quite a bit of reassembly! Ah well. I would have found a place where I could have scanned them on a bed so that I could get the major decks in whole allowing a GM to zoom in and out. But I also admit fully that I am saying that without knowing the issues and hurtles they fact. So the comment above only assumes I could have done better.

At least I have the dead tree versions of everything on this CD so I am still quite pleased
:D

Haven't had a chance to go over everything, I've noted a few wonky pages here and there, too:

Page 52 of Ascent to Anekthor is corrupted.
Pages 13 & 14 of The Undersea Environment are switched.
The map on page 15 of Drenslaar Quest looks to be cut off at the edges.
Page 43 of Drexilthar Subsector is corrupted (still readable).
Page 43 of Rescue on Galatea is missing.

Still going through stuff, and haven't tested OCR...

King Richard deckplan errors

OK, so the first thing I did was take the "grand tour" of the deck plans for the King Richard Liner. As I toured through the page opened by the "ISCV: King Richard" link, I noticed that the detail for the shuttles and life boats did not appear though everything else did. While I understand you could not get entire decks in one visibly usable shot, some of the cuts were very odd. You would get chunks of deck that were" odd man out" slices oddly cut.

Then I went to the "ISCV: King Richard Appendix" link.
First, a number of the existing views did not appear because their hyperlinks were incorrectly set up. This confuses me most because instead of the wrong link being built(and showing the wrong view in miniature), there was NO view. Happily, the views are present on the CD.

So, IMO, the only real way to use these is as I am. I have the Adobe Creative Suite and I have already electronically created PDF's of a set of badly cut decks. Admittedly, it saves me a bunch of time doing original scans before Adjusting them. In the cases of those less able to make the graphics adjustments, there will be issues..

Mind you, I have not done the page for page yet and have only looked at King Richard at this point. And only that because rain brought me home early today.

My Apocrypha disc arrived earlier this week. Serious bummer. The disc was completely blank. No files, no directories, nothing. I've e-mailed Mr. Miller to let him know, but haven't gotten a reply.

Seems a waste to return the blank disc in the mail; postage will cost more than a single blank disc is worth, but I'm willing if that's what it takes to prove that the disc wasn't up to par.

I don't blame Marc Miller/Far future Enterprise. These things happen. Buy why do they always happen to ME?

Actually, the Judges Guild sectors were as well done as the CT GDW ones, and better still, were a 2x2 sector chunk.

My initial response to when my CD arrived today was "Ye GADS! Its HERE!". Then I opened up the Adventure Class Ships I and was especially happy to have paid the money for the CD's. One HAPPY customer is all I can say.

One

Happy

Customer.

A couple of notes for FFE fixes...

Commander, can you give me more details (don.mckinney@gmail.com) about how this SHOULD have been setup so it would have been as you desired? I'm not clear on the problem you're discussing. If you e-mail me with the specifics, I can walk through my CD and see what you mean.

I'll need more specifics on this...

Oh, the links on the CD html? Ok, note in your e-mail the links that are broken, and we can get that fixed...

Again, I'm not understanding the problem....

Please e-mail me these details at don.mckinney@gmail.com, and once I can understand your issues, I can explain them to Marc and get them fixed.
