We, the systems administration staff, apologize for this unexpected outage of the boards. We have resolved the root cause of the problem and there should be no further disruptions.
As an American, I think of it more along the lines of how our continent was settled by Europeans. Many place-names in the Colonies were simlpy adpoted directly from the home-country. I was raised in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, for example. And there are numerous other towns across the US named Lancaster in other states as well, even as far as California. Why they chose to name them after a City in Lancashire in the UK probably differ from state to state. In the USA alone, consider the many towns named York (not to mention New York), Albany, (New) Jersey, Boston, Reading, North/Southampton, Newcastle, etc.
I simply take it that the Reavers Deep was largely settled (or at least explored) initially by people of North British ancestry or other places from the modern Commonwealth, and they brought the names (and culture) with them at the time.
(And, yes, The Reaver's Deep is one of my favorite sectors, partially for that reason ).
