Feedback wanted: Item/Inventory Cards for OGL

Nightwind1

SOC-12
I'm thinking of putting together some small products on DrivethruRPG for 1st Ed. MGT/OGL.

One of the things is Inventory Cards that would be formatted for printing on business card sheets, so you can just print and separate. This would include weapons, gear, clothing, etc. Probably done in multiple releases, for around a buck or so (maybe even less).

Each card would have an illustration of the item, plus stats, damage, weight, etc.

Is this something people would be interested in?

I have a few other ideas as well, but I want to focus on this one first.

Great idea.

My gaming nerds all love the D&D 5e spell cards, they save a lot of time and give the players a sense of 'having stuff' as well as being an innate tracking system (turn it over when it's been cast). Simple, fun and useful.

Your item cards could be the same tool, and be a fun prop with a nice illustration. Also could help with encumbrance/gear tracking and give a sense of what the PCs look like, eg, wearing reflect vs wearing a vaccsuit vs street clothes, carrying a pistol instead of a rifle, etc etc.

You could do vehicles too.

I would say the images would be of utmost importance in terms of making them viable products. Colorful, evocative and immersive, not mere B&W line drawings.

*** What does OGL stand for? I get lost in alphabet soup. ***

I have made a similar product for personal usage.

I hope your products sells and is successful.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

I like the idea, have tried unsuccessfully to do something similar in the past, so I would be interested in pre-generated files we could print on to cards.

It would make tracking what people have available a lot easier, and as mentioned in a similar thread, simply passing over the card to another player shows that you've loaned out that item. I like physical game aids. I keep collecting them...

I'd be interested in both CT and OGL versions, though probably not on the same card. :)

OGL would probably be best to start with, since the legality is much clearer.

Next question: Would people prefer templates that will print on business card sheets, or would you prefer something playing card sized, with an option to purchase a deck of cards if you don't want to cut them out your self?

Business cards (at least the standard ones) are 2" by 3.5". Having done a project like this, I've found it can be difficult to get more than minimal information onto a card this size and still make it readable.

Avery Flash Cards
are an interesting idea. These are 2.5" by 4" which is a little larger that most playing cards. Do you have a source for playing card size I can print?

The next size up is the 3" by 5" index cards. I find these to be too large to be useful as "small cards", and generally want a full page, even if mostly empty space. But opinions on this vary.

I'm interested in print templates for the Avery 3x5 version, print my own with my own tweaks, including printing on both sides.

And the same for Gun/Gear Cards.

I am working on something similar, but sufficiently generic so that it can be used with any Traveller game version. I have plenty of images to use, all black and white, but I am still working on the template.

Also, you might want to check with Mongoose as to the OGL for 1st Edition.
