FFS3 for T5

Thank you Anthony. Maybe we need a list of problems and their seriousness, just for reference. Assuming a re-thinking isn't possible, then we have to consider what if anything can or ought to be done about each item.

I'll work off of my initial list.

FFS2 base
</font>
  • Hull creation rules</font>
  • Materials tech</font>
  • Crew calculations - add simpler version</font>
  • Volume requirements for carried craft?</font>
  • Sensors adjusted?</font>
  • Thruster plates downgraded (average mass per Ton updated?)</font>
  • Energy production adjusted (esp Fusion+)</font>
  • Plasma/Fusion weapons need better range</font>
  • Laser lens mass formula</font>
  • PA energy density/mass formula</font>
MT high-tech stuff adapted into the base
</font>
  • TL16-TL24 stuff</font>
FFS1 alternate tech
</font>
  • Used as-is (buy the FFS1 book from DTRPG if you want to use it).</font>

In general, FF&S1 explains things better.

It's very hard to make a decent laser pistol.

IIRC gauss barrels get longer as TL increases...

Re the Gauss Weapon barrel lengths in FF&S1 a pair of brackets should be attached to the formula which should have been Lb = (V/100)* TLm not as I have seen it interpreted as Lb = V/(100*TLm)
Where Lb is barrel length, V is velocity in ms-1 and Tlm is the tech level multiplier

It is very very hard to make a decent laser pistol.

On the other hand I have never been able to reproduce either the existing backpack DEI lasers or the battledress fitted with equipment that appear in the TNE books.
