Fighter Performance

Hans, thanks for you insight. Im not certain you are working with the Zhodani but that bears watching.

The Gazelle is covering a particular point in space. As you probably know, being Zhodani, your people have began constructing a fleet staging area within the system. It consists of a patch of rocks floating in an orbit beyond the gas giant. The current campaign is in mid 1103 and they are doing the prelim work to utilize Ruie as a jumping off point to attack Regina. (I know you are in denial about that particular detail but for the sake of my campaign assume the Zhodani actually intend to attack Regina in 1107) They have a Q-ship in orbit with some 'diplomats' onboard trying to work out some details to allow for a naval presence and logistical support from the Nebelthorn leadership. Nebelthorn is attempting to obtain support from the Zhodani for their promise that Ruie will be brought under the sole control of the Guru of Nebelthorn.

The larger vessels you reference are not currently a problem for the Zhodani during this period. The Imperium has two merchant companies licensed to trade with Ruie and both Oberlindes and Arcon Lines are restricted to non-military starships of less than 800 tons. The IISS has been restricted to limited contact and have reported two 100 ton vessels missing in this system within the last 6 months.

The Zhodani are not restricted by this but they are trying to keep a low profile at this point. The Q-Ship carries a false Imperium registry and the Gazelle is a mercenary vessel with a Gram registry.

The players are the owners of Arcon Lines and have been recruited by Norris to covertly survey the system because of suspicions that there might be some Zhodani Intrigue. (your people at their worst I would assume!)

So, why isn't the IN watching this system?

Okay just remember if I give it all away Hans will tell the Zhodani.

The mission the players are on is a remote probe network seeding mission. The players have already established a covert base within the system which has placed the probes throughout the system. This network allows the IN to monitor the system and also utilize the probes as a communications network. During the seeding process the players discovered a patch of asteroids floating in concert just beyond the orbit of the system gas giant. Within this patch they located the Gazelle and some vessels which it has captured.

Better hope the Zho don't wake up and notice the probes and ships flitting about emitting across the EM spectrum...

Star Scout Program and low profile

The Zodani are keeping a low profile for the moment and unless Hans has spilled the beans they will not likely find the probes. Finding the players is easy, they are pretending to be a harmless group of civillians. They have a cover story that they are transporting children who belong to a group IMTU called Star Scouts.

The star scout program is a combo of todays boy scouts and the naval sea cadet program. The children, ages 11-17 are supported by the navy and scouts who provide them with surplus uniforms and equipment. Arcon Lines sponsors this unit and is taking them to Ruie to jamboree with a group of star scouts there. The kids also perform ship board duties and receive training as medics, stewards, gunners, drive hands. Depending on the length of time the kid has been in the unit they can even be a navigator or a pilot. They must qualify at the same level of proficiency as an actual crew member. They must also have some actual rating to be on this particular crew which left the Jenghe system where they are based. They all have medic-0, vacc-0 and pistol or carbine -0.

I realize you might think this is child abuse to put them in harms way like this but none of them are actually my kids so what the heck?
