File formats .dwg and .dxf

G'Day Guys,

I am trying to get some hexes lasercut to use as terrain for Striker games.

The laser cutting companies want .dwg or .dxf file formats. I can create svg but I do not have access to auto cad.

Does anyone here have the capacity to create .dwg or .dxf files? Or know how I can convert vector files into .dwg files?

Thanks heaps.

dxf files can be output by several programs other than AutoCAD, under the save as options.

I don't remember which ones exactly, I just remember porting some strange files into AutoCAD using dxf.

[EDIT: Sketchup might export dxf files.]

If sketchup does, I havent found the function

Adobe and corel graphic suites should ... my old versions have that export option but I havent heard from the local (Australian) cutter I exported dxf files for last week from both of these programs whether they were acceptable

If you are in the USA and want to be put in touch with someone who laser cuts from other formats let me know .... they can print directly onto pine plywood or mdf as well as plastics and then laser cut. Something simple like hexes shouldnt be a problem for them in nearly any format

A cheap student or earlier version of autosketch should do DXF. I also think Turbocad does as well. There should be an inexpensive CAD program that can help you out.

Adobe Illustrator can input .dxf. I'm not sure about output. I'd like to help, but the version of AutoCAD I own doesn't work with Windows 7.
