First Black Globes

Gadrin

SOC-14 1K
When were the first Black Globes discovered in the CT timeline ?

Looks like the Azhanti class ships were refitted between 1077 - 1104
to have them, so I'm guessing they came from the massive find at Knorbes;
which means the Spinward Marches were settled already ???

Or were they discovered years/decades/centuries before that ?

(I know the Marches were around way before 1077, but I'm guessing
things fell in line that way: settlement -> find at Knorbes after ~1000).

Thanks :)

Well the Kinunir class had them too, and they were first laid down early 1074. If there's earlier I can't think of it off hand but I'm sure there were Ancient stashes in the core as well that would have possibly yielded much earlier finds. I think the Kinunir and AHL and other recent ships (TL15) are simply the first Imperial Produced Black Globes in service. There should be older ships of lower TL that once had found Black Globes hacked into the systems. A rare find and special equipment type thing.

Well I'm looking for canon examples.

I want to know what's the earliest practical example of a Black Globe
Generator on an Imperial ship.

This will go towards:

Earliest possible example -- is Milieu Zero too soon ? (my guess is yes)

2nd Imperium ? 1st Imperium ? (possible, but doubtful)

I have the Traveller Integrated Timeline, but I show Regina as being
settled circa ~75, which may mean the Knorbes find was sometime
after that.

I'll have to go back through it and find the first documented Ancient
site in Imperium History and then spread out from there.

There was an article somewhere that mentioned a researcher being cut in half by an early experiment with a relic BGG - it way have included a date.

I'll try to dig it out.

Since the only production ships known to have the BGG are the AHL and Kinunir, I assume a late date and local provenance for black globes: to wit, the discovery on Knorbes was probably approximately 1050 + 4D.

Don't forget that the Kokkirraks have -- or had -- them, too.... and likewise remember my "the whole 'Black Globe' thing is a ruse -- a smokescreen, if you will -- to avoid a Sixth Frontier War" secret IN deterrence doctrine about their limited deployment and use...

Yeah, I had Acrobat do a search on "Black Globe" and saw all
those items including the "cut in half" but no dates, that's from
the Cd-Rom collection.

Weren't they made on old terra, as part of a proto-solomani ritual involving trying to disrupt a formation of objects by accelerating a black globe at them while ingesting huge amounts of alcohol and wearing special footwear?

Some historians think it was a form of military training, and that drinking huge amounts of alcohol while doing it was meant to condition people to accurately deploy weapons even under difficult situations. The special footwear is thought to have been used to get people used to functioning while in discomfort.
