First post, and some artwork

Just found this forum and it's great to see that their are so many people so into 2300/2320AD! I played the original game back in the day and have always loved the universe. Although I don't have time to play these days, I have an interest in doing ship profiles and other art inspired from the game. I thought I'd post a few of my pictures here, hope everyone enjoys.

Here is the Martel fighter, I know it's not 100% accurate to the pic in Star Cruiser, but I still like

And here is an original, the Mistral fighter

and a three-view (still a work in progress)

I have more if anyone is interested!

Thanks! Most of the stuff on my imageshack page are works in progress and a lot of them are total crap. I've only been doing this for about 5 months now and am redoing a lot of my favorites.

Also, if anyone is interested in having a ship from their campaign illustrated, I'd be happy to do it. I really enjoy collaborating with people, it really gets the creative juices flowing.

"I sense a great disturbance in the board... as if millions of members cried out for ship illustrations..."

:smirk:

OK, so I exaggerate and paraphrase SW...

Welcome aboard Zach :D

I did have a look and came away quite pleased with what I saw. More artists on the board is a good thing. You are doubly welcome.

Dang it, Colin's gonna nab him for some 2320 work before I figure out what pet project I could ask nicely for...

:)

I'd be down for that. And ask away on the pet project- I'm always up for a challenge.

I'm also getting pretty handy at doing things other than spaceships too- this is from what seems to be a never ending project illustrating a planetary survey mission.

I'm still trying to come to grips with figurative art in a digital medium, very frustrating.

I also have to say I'm really glad I found this place, I usually post in traditional sci-fi art forums, and their no one really is interested unless it has to do with Trek or battlestar galactica. Feel like I found a home now:)

Some great stuff there. I know many are excited about the ships, but I must admit I love the Exploration Truck.

In any case, thanks fr showing us your work!

Daniel

I'm happy everyone seems to like. Here is one I've just wrapped up, a 3 view of the Martel. I'm still playing around trying to get an appealing manner of presenting the orthographics.

I'll be working on some character illustrations next.

Zach

I truly like your lightweight Helicopter. It's a good idea for exploration by interface ships were payload weight is a problem.

For my part, I'am working on the model of a tracked ATV but i need some work before posting WIP.

btw, your fighter seems to be attached to the fleet air arm (Aéronavale). In this case, the tricolors need a black anchor and you can't use a stork for the squadron (it's the symbol of famous french air force units). Take a look at http://www.netmarine.net/aero/index.htm for exemples. The funny duck of the 12F is cool.

Thanks for the link laurent, I've been looking for a sight like that for some time and will definitely reference it for future stuff.

Zach

EDIT: Here is my take on the Bismarck. Tried to make it look a little less like a roto-tiller.

Where are the spin habs, then?

Well, looking at the pic in ships of the french arm, I always thought the 2 round thingys in the main hull were a pair of hamster cage spin habs. Either that or the biggest pair of sub-woofers in the universe.

Didn't realize their was a gallery section- really good stuff their.

Zach

Nah, the spin habs are the egg-beater thingies. One of the round bits in the centre may be a carousel hanger for the fighters it carries.

Fantastic work. Really inspirational - both the full colour pics and the profile views. Thanks for sharing these with us! Looking forward to seeing more of your work

Agreed. In particular, I'm looking forward to seeing some of this artwork in a 2320 PDF...
