Fleshing out Shipborn weapons.

What I also want to see is something like a Dive-Bombers torpedo: a REALLY big missile mounted externally and then released with the combination of Inertia and an engine of its own propelling it to the target. It would also have to do way more damage than a normal missile, as I see this thing as being about a ton (20 times larger than your typical missile)
Adapt the mines and torpedos from Triplanetary...

mines are 10tons, torpedos are 20 tons in that game.

how much damage do you want? to cross a single light second a 6g missile has to accelerate continuously for fifty-three minutes - at that point it's moving at over a hundred miles a second. no need for a warhead, if it's any size at all even a tigress-class will know it's been hit.

Oh, also I once figured* fixed weapons mounts (limited to small craft) take only half the volume. So a fixed hardpoint is 0.5tons and can mount up to 3 weapons just like a regular turret but they are fired by the Pilot and suffer a -1 to hit. So you could use that to do your dive bomber too. Instead of 9 regular missiles you could have 3 of my heavy missiles or one of my bay torpedos mounted. That should give a fighter a nice punch, if it survives the attack run.
