Floating Gardens

Very nice bit of animation, make a great scene for players to watch as they enter a High TL grav city.

Thanx :)

Gorgeous!

And a nice bit of gritty Traveller subtext: It's all very nice for the people who can live up here. But just wait until you see how they live below cloud cover! *cue ominous music*

Remember the Star Trek Original Series Episode?

I don't remember the episodes name (#&%& Sometimers) but....

(Hey, how do I do Spoilers anyway....)

Spoiler:
The "haves" lived in floating cities, the "have nots" lived in the mines and the gas in the mines made them argumentative and violent.

Cool the suburbs or subdivisions of Cloud City, Bespin...

Yes, for sure...it would make a great Traveller adventure...I am already thinking of a murder mystery with the body of the gardener found in the grove...the player's friend...a floppish noble is implicated...as he was found nearby passed out...

Can't reveal more lest my players read this thread...

Thought immediately of a rich Subsector Ducal estate or the pet project of an Megacorp ex-board of directors member. The physical ladders though, made me cringe a bit - which may be intentional - Only someone with the cajones to deal with the environment is allowed to have an audience with the estate's owner.

Be fairly amusing when the refueling tanker shows up once a year to top off the tanks - huge, ominous, ugly looking crate hovering next to the delicate, white floating garden platforms (not to mention, a potential way for PC's to get aboard indiscreetly.

Those platforms the ornithopters landed on at the end of the animation. The ones on the big curly stalky column things.

How do the people get down from there?

I mean, apart from the easy way ...

Also, the palm trees floating each in their little grav bucket. They'll need watering. Who's going to do that? Send a remote signal to each little grav bucket to drag them over to the main gardens for a daily watering, maybe? "Come in, Tree #27314, your time's up?"

And if the batteries run out ...
