futuristic real-world: transform solid block into furniture

gotta have it, lol

I live in efficiencies only and have to move about every 12 months to follow my boss around the country. Pack it up, put it in the back of my van and awaaay we go, hehe.

Would definately be good for temp shelters, base camps and the like tho.

15 minutes to put up, 3+ hours (and some sound cursing) to put back (if anything similar to my tents! and let's not even talk about sleeping bags and their compression sacks...).

My 10x20 tent (which I used to live in some 3-4 weeks a year, a 2-3 day weekend at a time) takes 4 people to set up or 2 to take down, goes up in 30 minutes, comes down in same. The air mattress takes 25min to fill, and 20 to drain, and 10 more to roll up into its stuff sack.

The pair of sleeping bags on it take 5min to set up, and 15 to pack. Clothing boxes are kept ready.

Armor bag is repaced after use, and sits in tent under table.

When you camp 2 weekends a month for 5 months a year... you get good at packing.

true if you get to go enough: I've a 7 year old, and that aid tends to slow things down a bit at the moment. Long term, though, it will speed up (and in fact, I look forward to the day I sit on the camp chair & get him to set it up and tear it down!)

I need to get back into backpacking: bought a new pack 4 years ago and I've only managed to get out once since then. My son was 5 at that time, and we managed 4.5 miles out. That tent (2 person) took a couple minutes to set up & take back down. Our bigger tents just take longer due to folding & cleaning issues.
