OTHERWHEN

GURPS Traveller Planetary Survey 3 describes Granicus (0520 Glimmerdrift) in some depth, along with background for the Federation of Heron. It is set in the year 1120 rather than 993 but is compatible allowing for the passage of time.

Quite a few Gateway worlds got some description in issue 4 of the Megatraveller's Journal. This covers the same setting about a hundred years later. It is compatible with G993, with appropriate differences for the time gap. The list:

1220 Gateway (Galian Federation)
0921 Salur (Galian Federation)
0527 Amberinth (Galian Federation)
0528 Tharver (Galian Federation)
1319 Galvaren (Galian Federation)

1709 Valkyr (Hochiken People's Assemly)

GONE AND BURIED

Back in the depths of time, Judges' Guild published various material for the GtD area. That has been "decanonised". GtD replaces it and does not match it.

Cool. I started such a list in prep for my upcoming campaign, but my list only covered Glimmerdrift and Crucis.

You might want to put the real name of the Hansen's World system here, for clarity's sake.

I am writing up world descriptions as I need to use them for my game. Those are unnoficial, of course, but it might help for those who may need a few ideas. Right now I have a description of Rukirligi (Ley 2435) and am working on descriptions for many of the Imperial Clients in the Ley/Outworld subsector (Gergigi, Navarino. Halloway, and Barely Planet).

EPIC 5: Scout Cruiser describes the entire ZAGRATHIAN Subsector (Ley).

EPIC 4: Merchant Cruiser descibes
Endless Blue

Post 'em in the IISS forum.

My description of Shamuss is very short and not related to the planet, only the orbiting base for Outworld mercantile. It is the "springboard world" for the Merchant cruiser adventure.

It occurs to me that there is a load of Gateway Sector world info for 1120 era in the MegaTraveller Journal vol 4 - some of it is pretty generic and brief, but some of it is directly pertinent to a 993 era game, such as an extensive writeup of the gateway artificial world.

That's current c*n*n, i.e. it overrides the old Judge's Guild stuff, right?

I presume it would it be written for the rebellion era, maybe with some history?

The Gateway world does get an entry in GtD, I wonder how the detail compares.

I wasn't aware Judges Guild did a Gateway (I know they did Ley, Crucis, and Glimmerdrift).

But anyways, yes. It's my understanding that the last two issues of MT Journal are owned by Far Future and are thus still canon.

The data is Rebellion era, and it matches the data and history discussed in GtD pretty closely (e.g., Gateway, Gallastrian metals, most of the states are the same but the border have changed a little, the Lords of Thunder are there, etc.)

Probably didn't -- my mistake, sorry.

Hmm.

Wonder if it contains anything substantial that isn't in GtD. That is to say, I wonder if some non-grog who wanted to (say) write an Epic Adventure in that neck of the woods would have to worry about complying with an ancient magazine article they've never seen.

[I hate c*n*n, I wish MWM would declare anything that's been out of print for more than 3 years automatically de-canonized so it didn't cause problems like this.]

Well, I see it as a boon. More resources after all.

Hopefully, Marc comes out with the MT CD he's been talking about and the two MT journals are on it.

IIRC the Judges Guild stuff was decanonised by MWM - the QLI material is what's canon for Gateway now.

Mal -- we already know that. There is no judges guild material being considered as canonical resources here. ;)

I did do a little digging, and yes there is a Judges Guild "gateway" sector as it were, but it's called MARANATHA-ALKAHEST, which is why I had no idea they did a Gateway sector.

But the Gateway material in MTJ 4 is canon and consistent with what appears in GtD... albeit off by a century or so.

Simple question...

Can anybody tell me: does MTJ4 describe any specific worlds that aren't described in GtD?

If so, if some kind soul tells me their names then I will add them to the list at the top of the thread.

As GtD only describes 3 worlds per quadrant, yes, there are a lot of them. Albeit, some of them are only a paragraph naming major ports and suchnot.

I'll see about compiling a list tonite, but I have other engagements so it may have to wait until Wednesday.

There are things hinted at, or set up, in GtD that come to fruition in the magazine article, since it's info is 100 years ahead of GtD. Basically, there are some border changes in Gateway sector because of some skirmishes and wars. Most significant, the Lords of Thunder have expanded their territory and taken over some systems in the Delta quadrant of the sector.

There shouldn't be any problems. MTJ #4 was used as a source when we did the Gateway for GtD. So everything in GtD should set up well for events and situations found in MTJ #4.

Here is an idea: We could do a bit of a landgrab: interested parties take a world (or two or four) and then flesh out the details based on the UWP data. Then, we compile the fleshed out worlds as an unofficial supplement to GtD.
