I have been out of pocket for a long time and finally made it back to these forums. Just wanted to send out greetings to my fellow "Travellers" and see what was going on since I have been gone this last year and a half or so (maybe it was two).

I am sure that this subject has been discussed a lot, but has anyone heard anything further on T5?

I hope to talk to many of you now that I am back. I am also trying to get my old RPG group back together so that we can play Traveller again.

Basically, what is the "new" scheduled release date?

I have been hearing rumors that it is a very good system and I am looking forward to seeing it. I browsed some of the free stuff from the T5 sight and it looks promising. I hope it is a large improvement over T4 (MMT).

Anyway, one other big question, does anyone know what careers there are going to be, besides the standard military, scout, and merchant ones? I am hoping Marc Miller is going to keep a lot of the "other" careers from MT.

Currently the word from Marc is a CDRom of PDF rules around the end of the year with a print versions around 2nd quarter 2008.

From what I have seen of the confidential material, I'd say yes it's a vast improvement over T4 (though that's not necessarily a difficult accomplishment).

There will be more careers than just the original CT basics.

Depends on what you mean by expanding it. We just released 2320AD which is an update to the old 2300AD setting and adapted to the T20 rules.

Basically, I was curious to see if there was new material coming out. Obvious there is. My group that I used to run liked T-20, so I might try to run it again as well.

What I would really like to see is more new careers and mustering out benefits for said "new" careers for T-20. Of particular interest would be a Pirate. I really liked that career path from CT & MT.

Yup we've got some new stuff coming down the pipe. I'm still getting development and production back in gear after being AWOL due to personal issue for too long a while. Right now I'm tied up with a server move (this current server sucks...), once that's done (this weekend likely), I'll be able to devote my attention to new material.
