Happy Birthday to me

Off topic, I'd guess, but today is the 61st anniversary of my appearance as a separate being on Earth.

It's special to me, as I am, thus far, a survivor of pancreatic cancer.

My 1st appointment in the process was 23 March 2015. 7 1/2 weeks late (14 May) I had the diagnosis. I had surgery on 2 June (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Zxvm3MSb8k) followed by chemo from mid-July - mid-December.

I was found at Stage 1B (the diagnosis) because I noticed something was wrong and I got to the doctor. In the 19 days between diagnosis and surgery, the tumor grew to Stage 2B.

I have had no sign of recurrence since the Whipple.

I felt something was OFF, and got me to the doctor.

Please, pay attention to your body...the life you save will be your own...the grief you save will be that of your loved ones.

Congratulations on your beating cancer and a Happy Birthday to you as well. I still have you beat by a few years though.

I would echo your comments about listening to your body. If something feels wrong, get to your doctor and see what is going on.

Congratulation on beating your cancer. It's one of the toughest things to beat. And a happy birthday to you as well.

Happy Birthday (and now that the song is out of copyright, a round of the Happy Birthday song as well :) )

And congrats on beating cancer. Cancer just sucks.

Keep up the fight!

An update...

14 May was the 3rd anniversary of my cancer diagnosis (Stage 1B adenocarcinoma of the pancreatic head).

On the 16th had a CT scan and lab for kidney function.

CT showed no recurrence or metastasis, and my innards as good as can be expected after the major surgery that excised quite a bit of tissue. Labs showed normal kidney function.

Looks like I'll be around a while yet.
