I thought the "some questions" thread wasn't titled correctly for making announcements, and so I've started this one.

The release of the System Module Beta was scheduled for 03Oct2004.

Stuart's laptop has blown it's powersupply. He's ordered another one, but it will take 2-5 days to get to him. There is a high likelihood of a similar delay in the System Module Beta release.

The Heaven & Earth 2 System Module Beta v0.1 has been released.

Stuart got a new battery a few days ago, and since he can't work on it this weekend, released it early.


Note: This is not a 100% completed System Module. It's being released to start testing early. Not all features are implemented yet.

Yes.

The list is by admission only. Stuart is currently monitoring the list every few days, and is definitely looking for active testers.

If you join the list, your approval should go relatively quickly at the moment.

NOTE: The System Module Beta v0.1 release is a limited and unfinished release. There is much yet to be done on it.

The System Generation rules in the books are so complicated in implementation (i.e. meant not to actually work save for manual human intervention/fudging between the dice and what gets written down on paper) that they are causing substantial problems. Stuart is working hard to fix the problems, but until that happens . . . it'll probably remain a limited release.

I will happily test H&E II - loved the first one but it really made me crazy at times.

To be honest I used H&E for system generation - didn't go near sector or galaxy mapping ( I like to have system and world maps for each system in the subsector I base the campaign in).

I would jump at any chance to contribute to this. May be able to get a couple of others involved as well if required.

Please note : I have zero programming experience - but I will test H&E2 (particularly the system generator ) inside out and be VERY HONEST in my appraisals (after all I want to use the thing )
