Help, my Travellers have too much money!

I have found nothing to drain excess Cr faster than letting the players know of a new military class experimental upgrade that they can get their slick hands on if they move fast enough.

Upgrade I have used are;
Increase lift capacity by 20% allowing more or heavier cargo.
Increase maneuver drive thrust by 1/2G.
Better sensors.
In tank fuel purifier, takes up no extra room and works in flight.

Of course all of these experimental improvements decrease reliability when they need it. Burned out parts will drain even more Cr from their accounts.
One crew experienced so many maneuver drive burnouts, they spent .5MCr to install an automated buss bar rplacer to replace buss bars that vaporized between the power plant and the maneuver drive
 
Thanks for the ideas, guys, there's some good suggstions in there. I think I like the idea of having to submit the ship for inspection. That'll cost them a lot in fees, repairs, upgrades, etc.

As far as the ship itself, they own it free and clear. They went through the whole salvage claim process legally (at least, how it is in MTU). I wanted it this way so they'd have a ship of their own with no loose ends.
