High Passage (magazine), Hunter?

Any thought about doing a High Passage style Magazine or even reprinting High Passage articles using T20 information?

Dave Chase

High Passage was a FASA bit wasn't it? Which means it is owned by SGS. THey are supposed to be reviving the line but we know where that has led. A High Passage type or JTAS type of magazine, even if it is only an EZine would get my attention though.

SGS is Seeker Gaming Systems. There's a website out there somewhere. They did a bunch of deckplans for MT and I think one or two for T2300.

OK, next question.

How does SGS own High Passage, since it was a FASA pub?

I am sure that the history (answer) is out there, I just don't know where to look.

Thanks

FASA, years ago, decided to drop their Traveller line and sold it to SGS. SGS owns the rights to things like FASA's Adventure Class Ships, Volume I and II. THe ISCV King Richard etc.

THe Problem is they have the rights to some of the best deckplans published for Traveller and are sitting on them. According to them they have all the Deckplans Printed they just need to be inventoried and possible packaged for shipping before they can sell them. They should have the 15mm plans for sale by Mid Summer 2004, ummm, Late fall 2004, I'm sorry I meant by the first of the year 2005... THe lastest release date is mid summer 2005. Don't hold your breath.

If you are interested in their website and history. Click here.

http://www.seekergamingsystems.com/home.htm is the main website. The above is a link.

Back to the original question though. Producing a T20 magazine, or even a Traveller Magazine.

THe words that follow are my own observations and opinions and in no way reflect anybody official's opinion either at QLI, Avenger Enterprises, FFE or other company.

There is enough problems getting the TAs and EAs out on any kind of schedule. (Mostly due to lack of people writing or artwork or a combination of the above.) There are other more important things than an official magazine. I think a TA every other month and an EA in the interveneing months would be enough of a deadline and material to keep people interested.
And is probably the ideal schedule for their releases. However this isn't Walgreens.

IMHO there are much more important things than a Magazine or an E-Zine.

A Magazine would slow down everything else. (IMHO.)

Good points.

I just liked a lot of the old articles from various sources. I would really like to seem them reprinted and updated for the new system.

Also, a counter point, What about an outside company doing the reprints/offical magazine?

Dave

The Fair Use Policy allows fans to create a fan-based e-zine. While unofficial, it's a great outlet for these kinds of things, IMO anyway.

For an example, check out Stellar Reaches, found at:
www.geocities.com/stellar_reaches

The next issue should be out by mid-May.

Hehehe, thanks, Guys!

I'm entertaining contributions for the next week, before I start working on layout and such. If you guys have anything you'd like to contribute, it will be considered.

Hope this helps address some of those thoughts,
Flynn

Thanks Flynn, that is kind of what I was looking for.

I would also like to see all the great articles from those magazines (High Passage in particle) be republished and updated for T20.

Thanks again.

Dave

Dave,

If you'll list some of the articles you'd like to see translated to T20, perhaps someone (even myself) might take it upon themselves to make the translations for one of the future issues of Stellar Reaches.

Just a thought,
Flynn

Howdy - new to all of this here. I have a few of the old mags in question, High Passage & Far Traveller, and another one I can't recall. Assuming it's all cool with everyone, I'd be happy to do some converting of those into T20 stuff. Flynn, I live near Austin, so I might could hook up with you on that.

Okay, cool. Now that I'm home, here is what I have (at least, what I have found so far):

Far Traveller #1 & 2 (FASA)
High Passage #2 & 4 (also FASA)
Traveller's Digest Adventures #3, 4, and 5 (DGP)
