The first few books in the Honor Harington series are not that bad. But by the 5th book, yep, dead on. Complete with snippy anarcho-capitalist snark.

If you just pretend that all the political stuff doesn't exist at all, and you skip Insurrection, then the Starfire series is doable. Also, I rather liked Mutineer's Moon.

I guess I've become accustom to his writing style at this point, I enjoy his work. Reading the Safehold series now.
