General If you were going to run a game...

If you were going to run a game at a Game Store or a Convention, what limits would you put on it?
  • Pre-Generated Characters only?
  • Only a certain amount of Players?
  • Mature Players only?
  • Time limit on a Player's turn?
Have you used any of those?

Any other rules or limitations for the group?

Near real-time action decision, no hemming/hawing for the perfect tactic.

Fast task/combat resolution.

A bit of railroading given limited time.

Chargen should be a separate workshop session, strictly pregen.

Probably go Cepheus Zero for fastest/simplest.

Have everyone agree to those conditions, first.

pregens only - only when running adventures built for them - I ran the Alien: Chariot of the Gods adventure at my FLGS; took 6 sessions. It's written solely for the pregens, and the events in the adventure module are tailored around them.
Similarly for the beginner boxes for FFG Star Wars and L5R. But after that, the option to switch to a personally generated one.

I limit my tables to 7p at the store normally, tho' my store games have run up to 10 when not doing D&D. It's mostly a matter of space at the table.

I do set an age limit: under 12 must have a participating parent.12-14, I prefer a parent be present, but not of need participatory.

I don't time limit on any hard schedule. I have, a few times, asked a player if they need a narrowed range of options. Several of my players have autism. (And, more recently, my psych providers all agree I have autism, too.)
