It depends. Army varies by homeworld. Battledress is adjustable but combat armor, like your mini, might not be. Probably some form of camo pattern would be most likely in the field but that might be a hassle to paint.
Personally I'd just go with a color scheme that seems cool and uses paint you've got enough of and say that its a dress pattern or that it actually is a camo pattern for a particular environment on a some planet. If you want to use orange, just use orange. If someone gives you grief just say "That's an urban camo scheme for their last mission. They served as cadre to the nation of Framistat on the planet Octavia IV, everyone knows the Framistatians paint all their buildings orange."
I agree, paint it whatever color you wish. Field coloring of high tech armors with a "chameleon" option would change by whatever field you are standing in.
That being said, there are discussions on this forum about the official coloring of various uniforms such as maroon (not orange) for the Imperial Marines. Such a coloring could be assumed to be the "dress" coloring of various branches, not what they actually wear in the field. You could argue though that the default coloring of a Marine's battledress is maroon until he turns on his chameleon option and swaps the color for something more matching to whatever background he is in.
