In case they ever get "Ctonian stars" done...

Somehow looking at my post just made me think of cthulhu on "the simpsons", the episode ending with homer going "Mmmmmm! Extra dimensional calamari! oooooaaaaooooaaaaaooo!" and eating cthulhu, alive.

Best sit down, son ... got some bad news for you ...

Mongoose sadly reported that somebody else now has the Chthonian Stars license, so I'd consider the probability of it appearing as a Traveller line pretty low.

The good news is the first two books will be Traveller but only as PDF with an option POD coming out on Drivethroughrpg...subsequent ones will be using a different mechanic (hopefully largely system-less) re-released in that system...and then all other supplements. BTW, it is called Void check out the Cthulhutech forums for more details.

I'm not so sure about cthonian stars. I'm not sure cthulhu and traveller are going to make a good mix. I mean, some things just don't mix with cthulhu.

As for a horror themed traveller game, well, now, let me think a minute....

How about the concept that grandfather intends to return to this universe and essentially enslave the whole damn galaxy? Maybe grandfather has a neat idea involving engineering the whole galaxy, a'la perhaps what the AGRA intelligence was doing in 2300, and really doesn't give a frak what happens to the lifeforms here already?

The idea of grandfather launching an all out conquest of the known galaxy with an unlimited array of weapons, biological, nanotech, stellar scale, etc, ought to provide all the horror any traveller fan could ask for, and then some.

Maybe not full-on Cthulhu but I've always had a dash of Cthulhu-esq something IMTU when dealing with the elder races (Ancients, Primordials, etc).

I saw a gaming magazine once (possibly early 90s but I can't remember) that had a Traveller scenario based on a Cthulhu-esq reseach base on Pluto. I'm not sure if it were Mi-go or Elder Things.

It was in challenge magazine, I think it was for 2300.
