Isn't Mongoose missing something?

I suspect that MGT has earned the good Baron's respect.
That's obvious.

What's less obvious is why the Baron thinks others owe Mongoose the same.

The Baron himself has certainly lost mine.
Yours? Well, that's up to you, and i can't dictate it.
I lost interest in MgT very early. The attitude from Mongoose came across to me as, "Thanks for your loyal support over decades, grognards, making the Traveller brand something worth licensing. Now kindly sod off 'cause we're creating a game for someone other than you."

The playtests, complete with Stupid Dice Tricks for the RPG.net crowd, confirmed that Mongoose's vision of what gamers wanted from Traveller was very different from mine. That they eventually dumped the Stupid Dice Tricks for the published rules strikes me as funny in a not-really-that-funny way.

Aside from downloading the playtest documents, my involvement with MgT was and is nil. I stayed away from discussions on RPG.net because there was nothing for me to discuss. I've had nothing good or bad to say about the game; I didn't even flip through a copy of the published core rules until a few weeks ago, and I still haven't read them in any detail.

The only thing that continued to pique my interest in MgT was the supplements, in particular 760 Patrons. As far as I can tell, at least when those who have the book actually show me the courtesy to answer my questions, it's not for me. That's disappointing; I was looking forward to it, and the fact that it doesn't appear to be anything close to the content of its namesake makes me less inclined to look at other supplements or setting books. It suggests to me that what Mongoose's interpretation or conception of what Traveller is about continues to be very different from mine.

And that's fine, of course. I certainly don't lack for Traveller material, so it's not like I'm dependent on Mongoose or any other publisher for shine for my game.

Mongoose lost my interest in their version of Traveller right out of the gate. They didn't earn it back with 760 Patrons. Make of that what you will.

Well, I'm sorry to have you lose respect, but I am also sorry to have to ask:

"Who's side are you on?"

My suggestion is to really buy the book, or the pdf for yourself, because all you will get from me for a review is positive encouragement for the most part. I gave a little review a few posts back, but I'm no good at the detail stuff as some are. Sorry for the mixup!
