ISS Lu Hao writeup

flykiller

SOC-14 5K
this thread is a detailed description of the ISS Lu Hao deckplan, located here, one space at a time. I intend to follow up with a "starship operator's manual" explaining my vision of how this all works. feel free to copy any of these for use in your games, copying them double or even triple size makes for good tactical gaming. all drawings are done in microsoft paint, so if you don't like how something is depicted then feel free to make any alterations. to me every single pixel has a clear and obvious purpose, but clarity in depictions and explanations is difficult, so if anyone has any questions or sees any problems you're probably not the only one so please feel free to speak up and ask.

lifeboat

provides emergency escape and support if it becomes necessary to abandon ship in a hostile environment. 2 pilots plus 32 passengers in emergency low berths, 1 ton of emergency equipment, fuel for 2 1/2 months continuous operations. the boat has a boat-pilot-for-dummies bridge setup allowing anyone with common sense and some game console experience to pilot the vessel to an ordinary orbit or landing with a good chance for success. it also has a fairly decent auto-launch and auto-pilot capable of the same actions. by imperial law a starship must have either lowberths sufficient for all passengers and crew, or 1 lifeboat for each 32 passengers and crew.

1) emergency lowberth

2) hatches allowing access to above-deck and below-deck emergency lowbeths

3) hatches allowing above- and below-deck access

4) bridge seats

these are standard 26 dton bays in which standard 20 dton boats are kept. extra space is between each bay because of the space requirements for the outer iris valves - in the lu hao this extra space is used for cargo and lowberths, but it can just as easily be used for hatch access to port or starboard of the boats (allowing nose-in entry).

1) outer hull iris valves

2) piston-operated berthing mounts and entry/exit guides

3) small parts lockers and equipment bays

4) full low berth station - 4 low berths, recovery gurney, life support / toilet module, equipment locker

3) repair shop. lathe, parts fabricators, maintenance machinery, welding, workbench, tool lockers.

4) power plant generator flasks and collectors. each is independent of the others. each has local control panel for start-up / shutdown, electrical output regulation, and electrical output breakers.

5) heavy duty filter and turbo centrifuge for clearing airborne contaminants out of engineering spaces, can be aligned to clear any other space on the ship

6) emergency ops backup power plant

7) other engineering equipment

8) electrical power distribution load centers, control electrical power distribution to the rest of the ship. transformer, multiple heavy-duty breakers.
