Welcome to the new COTI server. We've moved the Citizens to a new server. Please let us know in the COTI Website issue forum if you find any problems.
We, the systems administration staff, apologize for this unexpected outage of the boards. We have resolved the root cause of the problem and there should be no further disruptions.
I was wondering if anyone has developed a java/online Character Generation program for any of the versions of Traveller. My preference would be for CT/MT.
If not, can someone point in the direction of a Windows based program that would do the same. Thx all.
If it's of any use to you, feel free to grab a copy. It's standalone so you don't need a web server to view it, just a browser. And if you see any bugs or errors please let me know...
I hadn't really thought of making it easier; to be honest there hadn't been much interest in any of the stuff I'd done so it's there primarily so I can get at it from work.
Originally posted by kafka47: Excellent job, this is exactly what I was looking for. What is the next project (hoping that it will be the Advanced MT Chargen)...
So far I've done a PHP jump 6 map generator, this standalone chargen for MT, a PHP cargo/freight generator (using MT rules), and I'm just finishing a javascript MT combat assistant (plug in skills, weapons, armour, etc and get a table showing damage for each value rolled).
It's basically been whatever seemed most use for my own refereeing.
I am open to suggestions though, and advanced chargen would be a logical next step (though fairly slow and painful as the processes differ significantly for each career).
Agreed, MT combat should go next but not as a Java application just as program to run off of windows. My connection to the Internet is not wireless and is located on a Desktop...now if I had something that I could put on my laptop...Traveller games would definately speed up. Hoping the larger audience hears...and makes a wish under a shooting star.
kafka, you should be able to save the page on your hard drive, then open it from your browser locally. This will run very fast, without a need for connecting to the internet (except for saving it the first time, of course). Works like a champ for me!
Yes - sorry if I didn't make that clearer. Taking a copy of the html file is all you need. Doing as Aramis says above will do the trick. The same will be true of the combat assistant as well.
My aim is always to make things internet free as I referee with a standalone laptop.
