Lagre Quantity of Star/World Data

A while back in an attempt to stave off boredom in between semsters, I pulled out my old LBB's and wrote a program that would generate extended star systems based on the rules in Book 6: Scouts. I never did figure a good way to implement binary or trinary stars effectively but I ended up with a SQL database with 63,717 random star systems containing 456,106 planets and 1,072,951 satellites in a 512 x 480 parsec area. I don't currently run a campaign, nor did I realize the Traveller universe was still active. Afte having done all that work, and seeing that active campaigns do exist, I would hate to see it all go to waste. Any interest in this info? Also any practical suggestions on distributing this information in a usable format? No names are present in the database, and over 1/2 the systems have fewer than 10,000 total population (although only about 5% are uninhabited), so it seems more suited to an exploration/survey type campaign than a merchant campaign.

I'd be interested in seeing this database, but not being much of a computer guy, do not know how to read a SQL database. What other formats can you put the data into?

As always, YMMV

I can format the data almost any way desired, but the size of the data files makes releasing it in one chunk a bit hard to handle for most applications. I will try to get one sector formatted into both Excel and an ASCII flat file and posted somewhere accessible this weekend so you can look at it. The total data is 192 sectors (16*12), and if people are interested I will format further chunks of data as needed. I think I will be able to get about 6 average sectors in a single Excel worksheet. If there is another program that would work better for people, let me know.

Sorry I haven't got back to you before now SteelDragon, but if you can put them into Excel format I would love to see them. Where will you put them up?

As always, YMMV

Steel Dragon,

Are you still reading?

I'm interesting in pulling down a copy of your data. I only have Access and Mimer-SQL installed. Can you dump the individual tables, and is the program Open-Source and modifiable?

Sincerely,

Chris O.
