Feneteman is an unpopulated world in the Aramis subsector. One of the megacorps (I think LSP) went in to do a survey and found it wasn't worth exploitation. There's an old abandon base on Feneteman, and pirates sometimes use the world as a hide-out.

The Lanthanum deposits being mined on asteroids are geologically decomposed remains from Ancient Jump Drive coil manufacturing/refurbishment facilities.

After all, on how many worlds in the Traveller universe can you buy Jump Drive coils (compared to the number of trade routes that list it as cargo)?

it seems that they are made all over the place... probably in the same systems that the Ancients made them.

It is simply that the Ancients removed the nucleosynthetic forges for use elsewhere when Lanthanum-based Jump Drive coils became obsolete.
