Just to let you all know, we have about 16 copies left of the truly massive Suplpement 1: 760 Patrons 2nd Edition. Given the nature of this book (over 400 pages of adventure hooks, containing literally 760 patrons!), this will never be reprinted. So, if you are ever in the need of some quick adventures or need to complete your Traveller collection, move quickly!

You can find Supplement 1: 760 Patrons 2nd Edition at http://www.mongoosepublishing.com/supplement-1-760-patrons-second-edition.html

Why arent these books getting reprinted. Is Mongoose Traveller reaching the end of the line or something now that T5 is coming out? Certainly the Ebay shops are selling of their stock very cheaply it seems. CT is now more expensive than Mongoose stuff on Ebay.

We are thinking of getting this, but we have a question that seems hard to answer. Would this book work well with 2300AD or with B5? We might not be playing a lot of Traveller, but the other two have possibilities.

It would! Incidentally, all core (black cover) Traveller books have suitable material for all settings...

One of the guys in my group owns it and since he's not GMing currently allows me to use it. It's a good book. If I didn't already have access to it, I'd give it a serious consideration.

I don't have a lot of time to write complete settings/NPCs from scratch for the games that I GM so I always appreciate books that have ready made NPCs and/or Encounters/Events. Even if I have to change minor details, that's better IMO than having to spend time creating it from scratch.

So, for a short, one-liner review, "If you run a SciFi game and have a need to have premade NPCs on hand, buy this book!" :)

I think you are mistaking this 2nd edition with the 1st edition. The first edition was just a list of premade detailed NPCs for possible use as patrons. This second edition is loads of patron plots. Its far better than the first edition and could easily be used with any game, not just Traveller, to give the GM plenty of quick adventure ideas. The original was just a list of detailed NPCs really, whereas this rewritten edition is along the lines of the original 76 Patrons supplement for CT, which was one of the best supplements produced for the game IMO.

Nope, the one that I use is the 2nd Edition. I like having the plots in there as well, but they're not that vital. Sometimes I need ready made mini-plots/adventures, sometimes just an NPC or two. The 2nd Edition book gives me options for both. This book plus the 1,001 characters book pretty much mean that I never have to make up a NPC, unless I have a special need for one not in one of those two books. :)

Yeah I will probably pick a copy of 2ndEd sometime via Ebay where all the Mongoose stuff is at a good price these days. I just picked up the new Veh Book and Starports both for £25 incl postage! Ive managed to greatly expand my whole MgT collection thanks to Cougarrinard, he's been selling loads of MgT books off for £5 over there.
