Any teasers about what we can expect late this year or 2004? t20 stats for more starships would be good

Check the TA Authors thread in the Traveller's Aide forum. The authors of TA5 through TA16 have all posted what they are working on, and status of their project.

Consumer sighted... Marketing solution ready... prepare for launch...

The 2003/4 salvo (other than Travellers' Aide) will include: Gateway Domain (July/Aug), Starfall (Sept/Oct) and the Players Book (Nov/Dec) (these are provisional aim points)

2004 will begin with the second cluster book (the Imperial Trade Cluster) and continue with, well, other stuff.

MJD,

Prepare evasion maneuvers.

Could the other stuff include the TNE Mk II sourcebook for GenCon 2004?

It could, conceivably. Likelyhood as yet unknown.

But in all seriousness, what about giving us something to sink our teeth in.

Like what?

In truth, the 2004 product line is a bit vague right now. There are several options and we don't have a firm decision on which to do as yet, since it depends upon reaction to other stuff we put out.

Why not release the possibilities and let democracy decide. We can be pretty sure that your reception will be positive (sure we all have our pet wants but overall I think most people on the list want to T20 succeed).

We expect to comission the T2000, 2300 and Travweller Aliens Books soon, for 2004 release.

My own next project will be one of:

Under the Sunburst: The 3rd Imperium Sourcebook (Everything about the Imperium in 1 volume)

M1248: The TNE Sourcebook

Homecoming (1st of 4-5 Grand Adventures)

Or

On The Edge: mercs, martial artists and similar professions covered in depth (sourcebook)

That sounds nice. I've always wanted a 2000 page RPG sourcebook, this could be a first.

So as much I want to see that TNE Mk II sourcebook...which you is great. I think in all fairness to newbies to T20 and the Traveller Universe, it would be better to proceed with Under the Sunburst.

That way this project will evolve into the TNE milieu. But, could it be a project that one is released at the beginning of Year 2004, say around January and then release the TNE MK II around December 2004. That way we have an entire year of products and discussion to build around the Millenium Milieu before seeing a dramatic change that may impact upon the 1248 Milieu...

Also, I am not sure if the market is ripe for a Mercs sourcebook. It remains a popular form of adventuring but, won't crowd the field** too much if we are going to see further offerings in the T2000 line (either FFE or T20).

**Not saying it ought not to be done, but, I think we want say Traveller is about exploration before saying there are aliens that we can kill real good. My sense is if we explain the wonder of Science Fiction, strange new worlds, we might capture more market share. Look at the backlash against HDI for their real life military role playing series, as an example. But, I would wonder what others think.

I think a good sized Third Imperium sourcebook is required, not simply a nice to have. Many of us here have the benefits of owning a lot of the Traveller back catalog that has been read over the years, but new players do not have this option. It is always handy to have all the material in one place anyway instead of trying to remember which adventure or book the information you vaguely remember is in. If a massive book was produced with sector and subsector maps (no real detail just the UWPs and maps), as full a history as possible, the organisation of the Imperial government and bureaucracy, Emperors, Nobles, lots of information on everyday life (tricky I know) and how things work (such as x-boats, passenger transport), small overview of the military services, bit of detail on the core worlds, dispersal of alien races and races of humaniti and I'm sure there are hundreds of other things. Maybe it would be better as a two or more volume set with each volume being pretty massive considering the volume of info that can be placed inside.

Emm, tasty, I like it! I will buy it all!

It's about time an Imperium Sourcebook was published. Sheesh! It's only the central nation of the setting. Don't think small here on this product . . . more details are better than fewer. If it were the size of T20 Handbook, I'd still buy it.

This is in some ways a necessary book, but in just as many ways a dangerous book. Yes it would be nice to have a single volume detailing the canonical History of the Imperium, astrography, structure and details of the Imperial Army, Marines, and Navy, details of the nobility and the Moot, and details on Capital, especially for those new to the setting with T20, but what I really don't want to see (and fear a book like this might become) is an exhaustively detailed "Imperial culture" which is so far away from players' RL experience that they'll have to read and memorize a huge batch of material before they can play the game (like Issaries did with their HeroWars/Quest line). I've always liked that the actual details of 'Imperial culture' were left vague enough that in practice it could be whatever the individual ref wanted it to -- Yanks in Space, British Empire in Space, Romans in Space, Foundation, Dune, Dominic Flandry, Star Wars, or something entirely different and new. My vote: second priority.

M1248: The TNE Sourcebook
Of course I'm dying to see this, but I've waited this long and am patient. Let the potential market grow through foreshadowing in T20 releases, and let people get hooked by reading Diaspora Phoenix: the Dead Tree Edition. Third priority (but please don't drop it entirely!).

Homecoming (1st of 4-5 Grand Adventures)
Isn't this at least partially already written? Traveller (especially T20) needs things people can actually play -- background info is nice, but also show us the setting in action. First priority.

On The Edge: mercs, martial artists and similar professions covered in depth (sourcebook)
This book isn't interesting to me at all. It would likely be d20-rules heavy (which I'd ignore), and a lot of the background would duplicate Mercenary and/or StarMercs (neither of which I use particularly often anyway). My vote: last priority (or not at all).
