Library Data Star Wars -- 3rd Imperium's take

ACK!!

SOC-12
Star Wars:

A terran tragedy revolving around the downfall of a glorious empire due to manipulations by an evil psionic order known as the Jedi. First the Emperor himself is a corrupt psionic who only forced himself into power by manipulating another powerful psionic known as Darth Vader who kills all of the members in his own Jedi order. The destruction of the Jedi and the rise of the Empire is the tragedy's most uplifting part. However, then the empire is threatened by terroist rebels led by the son of Darth Vader another evil psionicist called Luke Skywalker. At the end, the Rebellion destroys the Empire and the Emperor is slain by the treachery of the traitorous Darth Vader and his terroist son Luke. It is commonly used as a children's parable to warn against the use of psionics.

Pappy

This would make an interesting nugget for TNE. If I recall correctly the Star Vikings found an archive of Terran films and began to copy things wholesale.

Gives people a new reason to shudder when the Phantom Menace is mentioned

.
And Return of the Jedi is something to scare the kids with -be good or the Jedi will get you

This library tidbit is of particular interest in upper-level college history classes focusing on Terran Pop culture through the ages. Students many times are amazed to realize the true intentions of this film was to glorify the Rebellion.

Most students have never actually seen the original 2-D film of course exposed only to the official versions of this pop culture legend done for modern holovid.

There have been more than one classroom of Imperial citizens shattered at the revelation and the truth about the nature of the story.

ACK that was... was... words fail me

It's magnicent. Do you mind if I send it to a few of my friends?

Of course not. Have at it.

Glad to help. Some police in an adventure had helmets like the Rebellion guys in the first Star Wars movie. When I was trying to explain while keeping it in game I came up with that.

Actually it would be shown quite commonly in the Confederation wouldn't it?
Indeed.

You have a ragtag band of heroes whose leaders are descended from one of the rightful rulers of their area of space fighting against a corrupt and omnipresent empire ruled by distant rulers who neither care about the average person or have ever seen (or been seen by, for that matter) all but a extremely tiny portion of the average joes.

That's exactly the image the Solomani Party tries to conjure up in the minds of their people IMO. "We're the rightful rulers of all human space, those corrupt tyrants need to be overthrown!" Obviously, it's not that simple, and there are far more greedy and political motivations behind the use of such propaganda, but the average Solomani joe or jane doesn't know, or need to know, that.

They, like the Vilani, probably downplay the use of "psionics" by the good jedi and point to the use of those powers by the evil sith as examples of why psions cannot be trusted.

Ine Givar would making interesting SW rebels, as in the GT scenario of Against the Empire. The Ine Givar were more of a political faction wanting to change the Imperium into a democracy would fit well with the factions that would want to proclaim a New Republic.

However, to take out Capital would be much harder except if one is to play in the MT milieu and have an independent faction form that is willing to destroy everything to build something new.

Popular culture references in the Imperium, would be interesting, just as we cannot really know what the Greeks thought of Homer, we can imagine the future Humaniti could not know what to make our 20th/21st century culture. We already know how the Star Vikings have corrupted 2001...so, what if the Ine Givar setting up institutions parallel to the Imperium trying to foster the ancient religion of the Jedi. This would certainly lead to cooperation with the psionic underground and lead them to establishing closer ties with the Zhodani.

Joking/seriousness aside, didn't Dave Nilsen (creator of TNE) want to have Jedi knights or something like that? I have always assumed he meant the inheritors of the Psionic Knights created by Arabella (sp) but perhaps the Ine Givar could also fill this function.
